Announcing the release of our 2nd album

Do You see? do you not see?

Official release party online – December 7, 2025 – 1pm Eastern

The record features world premiere recordings of Elliott Goldkind’s  Do You See? Do You Not See? (commissioned by the ensemble) and Timothy Daso’s Tubae, as well as adapted works by Lou Harrison, Francis Poulenc, Adam Scott Neal, Marc Mellits, and the indie rock supergroup boygenius.

The repertoire on LGBTuben Quintet’s second album interrogates the complicated legacy of Richard Wagner through the compositional work of Elliott Goldkind. Do You See? Do You Not See? (pun intended) fearlessly examines Wagner’s notorious antisemitism by asking, in the words of Isolde, “shall I listen”?

Our first album

In 2019, the Lawrence Graduate Bayreuth Tuben Quintet embarked on a recording project which was inevitably disrupted by the global pandemic. Not to be deterred, our adaptable musicians engaged the assistance of recording engineer/super genius and oboe player extraordinaire Stuart Breczinski to remotely record this album. Safely ensconced in our respective lock-down locales, we began the process of remote recording, track by track, line by line, note by note. Stuart assembled all the parts into one glorious album, which you can enjoy by clicking on the band camp link, or by streaming on Spotify or YouTube!
